There has been no further progress on obtaining Power to the Shed. The problem lays with Ausgrid giving us access from their Pole to the Shed. Hopefully this will eventually be sorted out.
Having said that, we still have to find the Money to Fund it.

Construction will close for the Christmas Holidays on Wednesday 21/12/2016 and will resume on Monday 9/1/2017.

The Funeral for our dear friend David Patton will be held on Thursday 13th October 2016 at 3.00pm in the Rose Chapel Creightons Ourimbah.

Information For Members

It is with much sadness that I inform you that following his recent Illness, David Patton has had his Life Support System turned off today.

David had been helping out in the new shed and was well respected by all who came in contact with him.

Having collapsed with a Brain Anurism, he was flown to RNSH in Sydney where he was operated on only to suffer a Heart Attack from which he did not recover.

Members will be advised when further information is received.

Making Progress

We will be back in the Shed at 8 am Monday 12/9 starting a new week.
Last week saw us moving forward thanks to a good crew of helpers.
We have had the assistance of Allcott Hire West Gosford who have kindly donated the hire of equipment to enable us to build the frame for the Office, Meeting Room/Kitchen, Toilets and Storeroom.
Mangrove Mountain Yoga donated Insulation to line the walls and Central Coast Kitchens and Wardrobes supplied the 8x4 Cover Sheets for us to line the interior walls, Allan Hoipo donated the Timber for the Studs and Frames.
Bunnings West Gosford donated the Trailer to help us collect the materials.
A great effort from Local People who are helping us to complete this Project.
Plus a great effort from our Members especially Larry, Peter J ,Peter M, Peter L,Max,, Paul, Doug, Tony, Lester, Frank and others who gave us a hand last week,

Shed Progress

The old Location behind Coast Shelter ceased operation on Monday 5th September.
This week we have had all hands to the pump, collecting materials to begin the interior fitout.
We have to construct the Office, Meeting Room/Kitchen/ Toilets, Shower, Wash Basins and a Tool Storeroom.
We will be back tomorrow and Friday batting on. Although we do not have the Power connected yet due to a Funding Shortfall, we will make the most of what we have, taking small steps we will eventually get over the line.
Thank you to Larry, Peter J, Doug S, Paul, Frank, Tony and Dick for the extra effort that you have put in this week and to those who rolled up today to help.
It is great to see the enthuiasm from Members to assist in Building Your Shed.

Information for Members

The Funeral for the Late Ray Franks will be held on Monday 5th September 2016 at 12.30 p.m. at The Hillside Chapel Palmdale all are invited to attend.

On a lighter note The New Shed at the Showground was completed to Lockup Stage yesterday. We will start work on the Fitout on Monday 5/9/16. All are most welcome to come along and help.

The existing Shed will close on Friday 2/9/2016.

Thursday 1/9/2016 we will be at Bunnings West Gosford from 5.30p.m. cooking sausages for the Fathers Day Family Night do drop by and grab a FREE Sausage Sandwich and a Drink.

Vale Ray Franks

It is with a sad heart that I inform you all of the passing of our dear friend Ray Franks.

After the trauma he suffered a few years ago with his Heart, Ray had a reoccurence and sadly passed away on Saturday 27/8/16.

Ray will be fondly remembered as a popular Man who helped us out whenever he could, nothing was an effort for him.

After his last episode, he still managed to attend the Shed occasionally and enjoyed the company of the other Members.

Our thoughts are with his Family on this sad occasion, he will be missed.

Vale Helen Phillips

The much loved Wife of Member Morrie Phillips passed away on Monday Evening after a long battle with illness. Our thoughts are with Morrie and family at this sad time.

The Funeral is to be held at 10am Monday 25th July in the Rose Chapel at Palmdale Crematorium all Members are invited to attend to support Morrie on this sad occassion.

Therefore the SHED will be CLOSED on MONDAY 25th JULY and will  OPEN ON TUESDAY 26th JULY.

Eagles Plumbing Presents Cheque

SHED UPDATE

Due to the inclement weather, the concrete pour was postponed on Friday and has been rescheduled for Tomorrow (Monday 11th July). Hopefully all will go ahead.

NEW SHED UPDATE

200 Ton Fill rolled out, Plumbing installed, formwork commenced.
Concrete to be poured on Friday 8th July 2016 weather permitting.
We are in desperate need of additional funding to complete the Project. Please ring John on 0466266083 if you wish to contribute.

Community Library for Jasmaine Greens Park Kiosk

Lee Maxwell and Peter Jones delivered the Mobile Library Unit to Jasmaine Greens Park Kiosk Umina Beach on Friday 3rd June 2016.
To date we have made 8 units for Gosford Council with a further 4 to come. Another Community Project by Members of Gosford Community Mens Shed.

Eagles Plumbing Fund Raiser

Friday 27th May was a good Day at Eagles Plumbing West Gosford. Peter and Staff did a great job and the Morning was well supported.
It's on again Saturday 28th May 08.00am to 02.00pm,

FUND RAISER

Eagles Plumbing in conjunction with Caroma are holding a BBQ and Raffle on Friday 27th May from 07.00am to 11.00am and again on Saturday 28th May from 08.00am to 2.00pm. with the proceeds going to Gosford Community Mens Shed.
Raffle Tickets will be available for $5 each. 1st Prize a $500 Voucher . 2nd Prize a $130 Coffee Maker.
Sausage Sandwich $2, Bacon & Egg Roll $3, Cold Drinks $1.
On Saturday a competition and games will be run.
Come along and join the fun and support Gosford Mens Shed.
We have now commenced Building Works on our new Shed in the Carpark at Gosford Showgrounds and all being well we expect to have it completed by the end of August.
There is still a significant shortfall in Funding so all Donations no matter how big or small will be greatefully received.

NEW SHED UPDATE

Well it is finally going to happen.
All approvals received and we will begin within the next 2 weeks.
Due to the time it has taken since the DA was approved we have lost a number of Funding opportunities which has resulted in a significant shortfall.
However, we will continue with the Project as planned and hope that good fortune will help us along the way.
Thank you for all of your support and I trust that you will be able to visit us when all is completed.

New Shed Update

Well, what can I say. Our DA was approved 2 years ago and we still have not been able to start.
Every way we turn we are confronted with Red Tape and additional costs.
We are trying to build an American Barn Style Shed on Crown Land in the Carpark at Gosford Showground, not a Multistorey Highrise Apartment Block in the middle of the City.
We fell short of Funds due to monies which did not materialise and now find that the Pot is dwindling as a result of extra pressures being imposed on us.
I wish to apologise to our Members in The Shed, the Community which we serve and The Coast Shelter Organisation who are trying their hardest to help us overcome our difficulties.
Hopefully, the situation will soon improve and we will be in a position to provide the venue for the benefit of Men in our Community where we can continue to provide a service for our Local Non Government Organisations, Community Centres and Members of the Public.

SENIORS WEEK OPEN DAY

Attention all Seniors.
Gosford Community Mens Shed are having a Seniors Week Open Day on Friday 8th April 8am to around 3pm.
Do drop in and see what we have to offer Men in our Community to help overcome Boredom by joining a group of Men who enjoy putting their skills to use for the good of the Community.
If you don't want to get involved with the practical work, you can sit back and relax with a bottomless cuppa and enjoy the Day.

VALE Alex Solovey

It is with a sad heart that I inform Members of the passing of Alex Solovey.
Alex was a Member for many years and enjoyed sharing a joke and the occasional Ale at
'The Office" (Grange Hotel Wyoming) on a Friday after the Shed.
Alex had a good personality and will be missed by all.

Our thoughts are with Gwen and Family.

MEN'S SHED WEEK OPEN DAY

Gosford Community Men's Shed will be holding an Open Day on Friday 11th March 2016 from 7.00am to 3.00pm.
You are cordially invited to come along and find out  what we have to offer to Men in our Community and how we assist Schools, Local Organisations and Members of the Public.
Members will be available to answer questions and demonstrate use of equipment.

 The area has been surveyed and pegged out.
Hopefully, we will be able to commence in the near future.
